About our Doctors

Dr. Scott P. Kurecki brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his patients from the North Port, West Villages, Englewood, Venice, Sarasota, and Port Charlotte communities. Born in Illinois, he moved to Venice with his family at the age of 12 and graduated from Venice High. Dr. Kurecki attended the University of South Florida for pre-med undergraduate studies then completed four additional years of podiatry school to earn his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science in Chicago, IL (formerly William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine). After further surgical training in Dallas, he established the North Port Foot Clinic in 1989.

Dr. Kurecki is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery and in Primary Care in Podiatric Medicine by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Florida Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Kurecki has also received specialized training in wound care management of the lower extremities. Dr. Kurecki lives in Nokomis with his fiancé Tracy they enjoy many outdoor activities, including kayaking, golfing, traveling, and hunting shark teeth. He has 3 beautiful, intelligent, adult daughters. 
Dr. Richard Leitzen proudly comes from a military family and spent a great deal of his childhood moving about the United States. Dr. Leitzen began his studies at Loyola University of Chicago before obtaining his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University/Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 2008. Dr. Leitzen then completed Reconstructive Foot and Ankle surgical training at Yale.
He is a board-certified foot surgeon and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. In his comprehensive training he utilized a multidisciplinary approach to treat lower extremity limb threatening diseases with the cooperation of vascular, orthopedic, and plastic surgeons. 

Dr. Leitzen is competent in all areas of foot and ankle care, and stresses education and conservative management wherever possible. When necessary, surgical intervention may be employed to correct injuries and/or painful deformities of the foot and ankle. Dr. Leitzen practiced in the suburbs of Chicago for nearly 8 years before joining North Port Foot & Ankle in 2019.  He is no stranger to Sarasota County; his father resides in Sarasota and is a retired commercial pilot. He currently lives in Osprey with his wife, two sons, and his dog Lucy. He enjoys all manner of outdoor activities including boating, archery, and playing soccer with his sons.
